SIXTH RESTAURANT OPENING SOON
We are proud to announce that the new site at Tilgate Park is due to open in the new year. Our extensive refurbishment work is underway and we were even visited by Councillor Lenny Walker, Cabinet member for Leisure & Culture to see for himself our exisiting new restaurant.
Councillor Lenny Walker, said: "It's great to see work starting on this new venture in Tilgate Park. "This building has lain empty for far too long. I'm delighted that we will soon have a family restaurant in the park. I wish Smith and Western all the best."

KILIMANJARO TREK
Our intrepid explorer, Jamie Cox, director of Smith & Western recently completed the gruelling trek to the top of Kilimanjaro. Jamie raised in excess of £3,000 in aid of Scope, a charity who works with people suffering from cerebral palsy. Well done Jamie! Donations still being received at www.justgiving.com/jamie-cox1
SPIRIT FM DINING EXPERIENCE
Congratulations to Smith & Western Chichester who won the 'Best Dining Experience' in the area.
They were up against 25 other local restaurants, so it just goes to show that for a great evening out Smith & Western really is the best Hoe Down in town!
Well done to all the staff in Chichester, keep up the good work!
WESTERN PROPOSAL
A mighty Cowboy proposed to his Cowgal in Lingfield last week, it's our first proposal and luckily the Cowgal said yes! Congratulations to you both and how nice that you chose our restaurant for such a mighty fine question! We hope that you visit us again real soon.
WESTERN WINTER WONDERLAND
We have all been talking about the snow and icy weather but at least our restaurants looked like real winter picture postcards. The deepest snow fell at our restaurants in Lingfield and Boxhill, it was an incredible 2 foot deep at Boxhill.
Best Dining Experience
Chichester has been nominated for "The Best Dining Experience" by Spirit FM. Listeners to the radio and everyone who dines in the restaurant have been nominating for the last 4 weeks, the winner will be revealed the second week of December
GLORIOUS VIEWPOINT
Boxhill must surely be our most picturesque restaurant as it is located a short distance from the famous viewpoint. On a foggy morning in November the whole of Dorking was under a cloud while it was a magical site from the viewpoint! Such a lovely place to come and see before heading to Smith & Western to fill ya boots!
BORN IN THE USA
Smith & Western and KMFM radio teamed up together this thanksgiving to give away a fantastic holiday to Chicago, including return flights for 2 people and 7 night's accommodation. The lucky winner was announced on 26th November live on the breakfast show.
ANNUAL FLARE FACTOR
We held our annual Flare Factor competition in Tunbridge Wells this year! Our best cocktails waiters competed against each other to become the champion cocktail Flarer! All of the competitors were class acts and this year's winner was Aaron from Lingfield stealing the Trophy from last year's winner Chichester! Second place was awarded to double act Rhys & Dean from Boxhill and third place went to Courtenay in Chichester. Check out all of the acts on YOUTUBE.
SPOOKY GOINGS ON!
It was a spooktacular Halloween this year! All our staff go to such an effort with their costumes and decorations, so that the kids have a great time. There are graveyards, witches, coffins and this year there was even a haunted house in Chichester. The ghosts and ghouls were certainly out in force, on such a thriller of a night.
Largest Cowboy Boot in the Wild West!!
Tunbridge Wells is the proud owner of one of the largest cowboy boots in the world, it stands at an impressive 9ft?! The boot was made for a memorial concert for the famous country and western singer Pete Sayers, who sadly died in 2005. Not for want of trying, no English performers have become stars in American country music, but Pete Sayers got closer than most. He was an engaging performer, able to sing serious songs and indulge in comedy banter, as well as being a multi-talented musician. Smith & Western are very honoured to give this wonderful memorial gift a good home in a country and western surrounding fitting of Pete Sayers life.
SMITH & WESTERN STEAKS!
The Directors and Management team were invited by Blakes Butchers to a day at Brighton Race Course on 28th September. We proudly sponsored one of the races on the day and Directors Mr & Mrs T Cox proudly presented the trophy to the winner.

Ringing the changes at Smith & Western in Tunbridge Wells!
The clock restoration is almost complete, having taken over 10 months to repair the damaged mechanism to its rightful place within the clock tower of this historical building. The mechanical clock actually dates back to 1877 and was made by Gillett and Bland, the gravity escapement movement was designed by Edmund Dennison, later Lord Grimthorpe who designed the gravity escapement for the Westminster (Big Ben) Clock. In the 1940’s the mechanism was damaged when a relief manager at the station incorrectly wound it!
Mayor Cllr Leonard Price will be officially re-starting the clock at 1pm on Tuesday 1st December.
Halloween Spooktacular at Smith & Western on Saturday 31st October.

With goody bags for the kids and all the staff dressed in Halloween costumes, the restaurants will be decorated in a Spooktacular fashion!
There will even be ghostly menus and goulish drinks to choose from.
